Petaluma 5 hour intensive art, photography and introspection workshop | October 8th, 2017 | 11am - 4pm

Join us for a beautiful summer day, full of art, photography, and styling. In this workshop we will focus on making creativity tangible everyday, by getting in touch with what inspires you.

Aleksandra will BE focusing on creating a 1'x1' square piece of artwork. Each student will be guided though the creation of their piece. Each student will take home the piece of artwork they create. No woodworking experience necessary. Come as you are.

Freda will teach hands on interaction with 2 separate photo stations. a flower wall, and staged color themed model shoot. She will talk you through finding the perfect light and the perfect shot.

Aleksandra and Freda both firmly believe in the tangible. what we work with on a physical level draws us in to create from the most honest form of who we are. Both also practice meditation daily and recognize the importance of being fully present with oneself while accessing the creative realm. Colors, shapes, and energy all flow within a similar theme with Freda and Aleksandra's work. Join us for a day of collaboration and exploration.

Aleksandra-

Oakland based Woodworker, Aleksandra Zee builds large and small scale intricate wooden wall hangings, headboards and table tops. With a degree in Fine Arts, Zee has built a full time career in making art as a living. From trips to the desert, spending time in front of the ocean, and being out amongst the trees, Zee draws her inspiration from travel and being heavily rooted in the past.

Freda-

Petaluma based photographer, Freda Banks has dedicated 15 years to the medium of photography. She uses film and digital photography to create simple, delicate, beautiful, and emotional work. She believes in capturing beauty in its most simplistic form. Growing up in Norway, Texas and Washington, Freda finally landed in California for the past 20 years. She graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute with a degree in Fine Art Photography.

The Space-

The worksop will be hosted in a renovated 1920’s, Danish style house. It has mid modern furnishings, handmade ceramic pieces, charcoal drawings and handmade art. Hard wood floors, original wood paneling and trim grace the interior throughout the house. The house has a warm palette of neutrals... white, orange, yellow and wood. Located in the quaint farm town of Petaluma, Ca, the sought after neighborhood compliments the feel of the home perfectly.

The Eats-

Yasmin is the chef behind Calico Pie, working directly with clients to create one-of-a-kind menus for each occasion, translating ideas into food with care and consideration, often incorporating house-made pickles, preserves, ferments, bone broths, smoked items and baked goods into the menu. Her culinary inspiration includes regional Americana, European, and Middle Eastern cooking. Raised in a family that raised chickens for their eggs, planted ample gardens, made their own wine, and cooked Old World food from scratch, she learned how to value and grow food from an early age, and now cultivates 15 varieties of fruits and two dozen greens and herbs from seed.
